Floyd Mayweather Junior

Floyd Mayweather Junior is one of the greatest fighters of the 21st century. The 38-year-old, born in Michigan, has won 12 World Championships in five different weight classes, ranging from super-featherweight through to light-middleweight.

Thanks to his extensive achievements in the ring, Mayweather was named Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year in both 1998 and 2007 and was also named the World Boxing Hall of Fame Fighter of the Year in 2002.

Floyd Mayweather

The Mayweather boxing dynasty runs deep, as Floyd Junior's uncles Roger and Jeff were both also noted fighters and are key components of "Money" Mayweather's meticulous training regime.

"Money" Mayweather: Cars, watches, private jets and women

Mayweather has amassed millions and become a global sensation thanks to his longevity, unrivalled skill and brash, flash lifestyle.

The Michigan fighter topped Forbes' rich list for in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and routinely uses social media to show the powers of his significant wealth with pictures of expensive cars, watches and huge wagers on American sports.

Mayweather also uses his appearances on behind the scenes documentary All Access as a way to show off his high octane lifestyle, surrounded by beautiful women and jetting around on high profile pre-fight press tours.

Mayweather the defensive master

Earlier in his career, Mayweather was known as "Pretty Boy" thanks to his electric and elusive movement in the ring, while his father and trainer, Floyd Mayweather Senior, is credited with teaching him the defensive skillset upon which he's built his glittering career.

Floyd Mayweather Defence

Although Father Time has more recently showed times of slowing Mayweather down, his high left shoulder and lightning head movement still allows him to escape fights almost entirely unscathed. It's on these defensive capabilities that Floyd has built his legacy, and his 47-0 record.

The Showtime era

In February 2013, Mayweather signed a lucrative six-fight deal with American broadcaster Showtime, and he won the first of these contests against Robert Guerrero in a Cinco de Mayo showdown LIVE on BoxNation.

The pound for pound king recently notched two majority decision wins, one against previously unbeaten Mexican Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (below) and, in May 2014, against hard hitting Marcos Maidana, extending his record to a remarkable 46-0.

Mayweather V Alvarez

He followed that with a rematch win against Maidana in September 2014 as he completely outgunned his Mexican rival, extending his record to an almost unparalleled 47-0.

Mayweather v Pacquiao

In May 2015, Mayweather improved his remarkable record to 48-0 with a comprehensive win over Manny Pacquiao in a fight that had been talked about for nearly a decade.

Floyd was at his frustrating and imperious best on that night, fending off and neutralising Pacquiao's threat completely in a lop-sided decision win.

Mayweather v Berto: Mayweather matches Marciano

On September 12 2015, Mayweather beat a game Andre Berto with a wide unanimous decision to claim a 49th consecutive career win and match the legendary Rocky Marciano at 49-0.

The five-weight world champion has now claimed to have retired, although there's speculation he will return and try to go to 50-0.
